The 6th Annual Eager Beaver Charity Surf Contest
27 January 2019 | 25th Ave Palm Beach 4221
In memory of Nathan “Beaver” Jager 1974 to 2013
Nathan Jager a.k.a “Beaver” was involved at Palm Beach Boardriders for over 20 years. He had an enormous amount of energy and zest for life ,who loved his mates, the water and a good time. Nathan’s love of life was infectious and he was constantly surrounded by mates from all parts of the gold coast, Australia and overseas. Nathan suffered from Bi Polar disorder for much of his adult life.
On one of his darkest days Nathan took his own life on Feb 8th 2013.
The objective of the contest is to remember Nathan and raise awareness of mental illness within the surf community. Mental Illness affects many people within the community. The aim is to raise money for LIVIN www.livin.org.au
LIVIN was founded in honor of a great man Dwayne Lally who like many others took his life after suffering from a mental illness.
LIVIN is all about LIVIN your life at the top and destroying the stigma attached to mental illness. Connecting, supporting and encouraging one another to talk about their feelings, issues and problems because “It Ain’t Weak to Speak”.
This is an illness we can beat as long as we unite in love, support and understanding. It’s time to make a change and stop this from crippling our society. You are not alone. 1 in 4 people suffer from a mental illness in their lifetime. Let’s unite to help our brothers and sisters start LIVIN again.
Last year’s contest raised $3800 dollars. More importantly it got people talking about mental illness and a lot of barriers were broken down.
